about

Here's a blast from the past. "Destiny Undelivered" (DU) was a four-part song suite written during the 'Window Dressing' era. By the time we reached this particular demo during pre-production Terry Brown thought we had enough material (we were already at 65 minutes) and this was placed on the back burner. DU "Part 1" was titled "Pretending to Run" and a few years later became the foundation of that album. DU "Part 2" became "Voir Dire" and DU "Part 3" was extracted as "Slippers in the Snow" and appeared on 'Window Dressing.'

DU "Part 4" was never repurposed or used in other compositions. You can hear the brief reprise of the four-chord sequence from "Pretending to Run" (Bm, Bm/g, Bm/a, A4) but otherwise, we wank (modulate) our way toward a conclusion. Terry was right though. The overall concept wasn't fully developed - which is why sections were parsed and reworked.

Anyway..., never to be played again (after this recording) is 'Destiny Undelivered Part 4.' The basic riff came from Jeff and Chris used it to mutate and compose what you hear. For better or worse. We hung on for dear life as Pat drives the tune with relentless (and very creative) energy. Little did we know we were playing a unique piece of Tiles posterity for the last time...
